Open Access, Licensing & Distribution Policy
1. Aims and Objectives
The International Journal of Applied and Experimental Biology (IJAaEB) is an Open Access journal. It is working to make scientific research widely accessible, i.e., anyone can download, copy, print, read, share or distribute without paying. As an open access journal, IJAaEB helps researchers, scholars, students, and the general public, access the knowledge easily. This Open Access policy is designed to align with the indexing requirements and promote the sharing and advancement of knowledge.
2. Open Access
IJAaEB follows an Open Access (OA) DOAJ model, which means that all articles published in the journal are freely available to the students and researchers or to global research community as well as general public. This approach eliminates financial barriers such as subscription fee, and promotes unrestricted access to individuals from various backgrounds for the exploration of scientific findings. This accessibility to scholarly content to scientific community enables researchers, scholars, and students to exchange the ideas and accelerate the scientific process. This OA policy allows the researchers to read, download, copy, distribute, and utilize the published content without any financial barriers.
3. Copyright and Licensing
IJAaEB adheres to the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY) for all published articles. Copyright of any article published by IJAaEB under the CC BY 4.0 license is retained by the author(s). This means that authors have the right to use, reproduce, distribute, and display their work. Authors can give permissions to others to do the same. IJAaEB respects and supports the intellectual property rights of authors, and it also acknowledges their ownership of the published content.
Authors formally grant IJAaEB a license to publish the article and identify itself as the original publisher under the terms of the CC BY license (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0). This license ensures that the article is available to the public while giving proper credit to the authors. Under the CC BY license, readers and users of the IJAaEB's content are granted the following rights:
- The freedom to share: Users can copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format, even commercially.
- The freedom to adapt: Users can remix, transform, and build on the material for any purpose, even commercially.
The Copyright and License Agreement Form can be downloaded here.
4. Attribution and Citation
In order to maintain academic integrity and acknowledge the original scientific work, it is important to provide proper attribution when using content from IJAaEB. This includes accurate citation with authors, title, year of publication, journal name, etc. By adhering to these requirements, the research community ensures that the contributions of the authors are recognized and credited the intellectual efforts behind the published content.
5. Exceptions and Limitations
IJAaEB promotes open access and the broad use of its published content. However, there may be specific circumstances or situations where certain exceptions and limitations to the licensing policy are applicable. These exceptions could arise due to some reasons such as intellectual property rights, privacy concerns, or legal obligations. In such cases, IJAaEB will evaluate and address these issues on case-by-case basis. However, IJAaEB does its best to maintain the principles of Open Access as much as possible.
6. Article Processing Charges (APC)
To support the Open Access model and cover the publication processing and other costs, IJAaEB requires authors to pay APC upon acceptance of their manuscripts. However, the APC, if applicable, will be clearly communicated to authors during the submission and review process. In addition, IJAaEB strives to keep its APC reasonable and offers fee waivers or discounts for authors from low-income countries or those facing financial difficulties. This ensures that everyone has equal opportunities to publish their work. The first three volumes were published free of charge. However, starting from 1st January, 2025, authors must pay APC only if the article is accepted for publication.
7. Archiving and Preservation
IJAaEB understands the importance of long-term archiving and preservation of scholarly content. All published articles are stored in digital repositories or databases to ensure they are accessible in the future. IJAaEB also encourages authors to self-archive their articles in institutional repositories or other appropriate platforms to enhance the visibility and reach of their research. The details of the archiving policy can be viewed in the Publication Ethics Policy at Journal’s website.
8. Review of Open Access Policy
IJAaEB periodically reviews its Open Access policy for updation or revision to align with emerging trends, best practices, and the requirements of indexing bodies such as DOAJ. Any changes to the Open Access policy will be communicated transparently and promptly to authors, readers, and stakeholders.
